prayer request Part 2

Well, sweet baby T has joined the stomach virus crew. Bless her heart she is just pitiful! If you could add her to the prayer list as well as the rest of us we would really appreciate it. Thanks again!!

Prayer request

The homestead has become over run with a stomach virus. Please be in prayer with us that it will not continue and contaminate the younger three kids. Currently, KK and I are the only ones with symptoms.
Also, we are supposedly getting some winter weather. While this is normally not a major issue, Burt will be traveling to SC over the mountains where they are expected to receive 6-10 inches of snow. So, we would also appreciate prayers for his safe travel this weekend.
Thank you!!

Winter break is officially over. The spring semester started yesterday with the lovely noise of a 5:45 am alarm clock. I am taking 2 classes this semester, English Comp. and African American Studies. This will be the first writing course I have taken in ten years, so I am a little apprehensive.
Our new daily schedule is in place and so far seems to be running smoothly. I will be posting it next week, after we have a good solid run at keeping it going. Well, study time is calling. Have a great weekend!!

Baking day

I am making the first homemade loaf of bread of the new year. The house smells of whole wheat bread. YUMMY!!! The time of resolutions has passed, but one of my 2010 goals is to bake more. I love homemade bread and so does the rest of the family. While the time is intensive, it does cost less than regular store bought and it tastes so much better. The kids love to help me bake and K is quite good at kneading.
Hope you have a wonderful day and stay warm it is bitter cold today!

Daily Chore Lists

I have been trying to find a daily cleaning list for the kids and I that works. I think I have finally perfected one that we can all accomplish everyday.

MY CHORES
1. Make our bed
2. Clorox wipe and sweep bathroom. Empty trash.
3. Pick up living room throughout the day and sweep in the morning.
4. Pick up dining/school room throughout day and sweep after every meal.
5. Wash dishes after every meal and wipe counters. Take out trash.
6. Spray light switches and door knobs with lysol. (I lean on the obsessive side of germs :)

KIDS CHORES
Morning - Make beds, get dressed, brush teeth
Afternoon - Clean up rooms and school supplies
Evening - Clean up rooms, baths, and lay out clothes for tomorrow

Meal Chores - K clear off plates and wipe off table, N clear off trash, E clear off cups and T clean off silverware

The beginning

My hope for this blog is to share parts of our life as we grow and learn together. I hope you enjoy the ride with us.
